I'm back!

I finally got my butt off the couch and drag myself to type something here. A lot have happened since I last updated my blog. We finally moved to our own place. We have unpacked all our boxes and bought some more stuff for our home. I am now driving alone...and taking the freeway to and from work. I am sure almost everyone have heared what happened here in So.Cal. Multiple brush fires have caused so much damage and evacuated thousands of families, including us, from their homes. We were kind of close to the Witch Creek fire coz it had reached the area just 5 minutes drive north of our apartment. We were driving home from our short weekend in Vegas and we saw dark smoke by the other side of the mountains so we tuned in to the news radio and found out that a fire in the LA area had started and it has started burning a lot of multi-millions homes. Then we heared on the local news that San Diego has 2 wild fires too. When we were approaching where I-15 splits and turns into CA-163 (?) we saw smoke engulfing the 15. And traffic was at a stop. The wind was so strong that day and it only got even stronger after that. So when we got home, the next day my husband had to evacuate me and drive me down to my in-laws, which is closer to my work. And he had to go back to our place coz his work is near there. They had to close down their company Monday so he had to go back to our place to grab some of our stuff in case the fire gets really close to our apartment. So he stayed down at my in-laws with me Monday night but after that he stayed up here in our apartment the entire week.

Now that it's over, driving around the neighborhood, knowing that the fire had gone through there is kind of weird. I have never experienced something like that before. Most of my emergency experiences are coz of typhoons, floods or earthquake...but not firestorms. It is kind of eerie to me. We went to the Charger game Sunday after everyone had left the stadium which was used as an evacuation center and when they showed the video of what San Diegans had gone through that week it got to me. I got weepy and felt emotional. It was the first time I felt like I belong here...that I am a San Diegan and that San Diego is my home. It's sad that I had to realize that in that manner but I feel happy that I finally felt like I am home.

OK! On to something different. Halloween has just passed and soon Thanksgiving is coming. Then my Pineapple's birthday. I still haven't figured out what to buy him for his birthday. I am just way bad with gifts. I know he would say he likes some stuff. But he would also say he doesn't really want it...that it's just a waste of money. So I am kind of lost.

Both our work has been real good. Pineapple's company had finally moved locations. And they all got a raise. I, also got quite a nice raise. So a big help to us financially. We are still trying to figure out our budget and still trying our best to always keep our home clean ( which never really happen except during the weekend...or Sunday). But all in all, it is all good. I feel like this year has been really really been the best for us.

P.S.
I almost forgot the most important milestone for us...we celebrated our 1st year anniversary last September. We went to a Japanese Restaurant for an early dinner. Since our anniversary fell on a Sunday we had to go out after the Charger football game was finished. LOL!
